Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK)

Neopentyl Glycol (NPG)

Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) is the organic compund with the formula (CH3)2CHCH2C(O)CH3. This colourless liquid, a ketone, is widely used as a solvent. Acetone and hydrogen are the raw material for MIBK production.

Neopentyl glycol (NPG, IUPAC name 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol) is an important industrial intermediate used in the synthesis of polyesters, especially resins for airplane or boat manufacturing. The neopentyl structure provides excellent resistance to light, heat, and hydrolysis. NPG is also being used in a variety of formulations in varnish coatings, synthetic lubricants, and plasticizers.

Cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM)

 Trimethylolpropane (TMP)

Cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) is a mixture of isomericorganic compounds with formula C6H10(CH2OH)2. It is a colorless low-melting solid used in the production of polyester resins. Commercial samples consist of a mixture of cis and trans isomers. It is a di-substituted derivative of cyclohexane and is classified as a diol.

Trimethylolpropane (TMP, IUPAC name 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol) and its ethoxylated derivatives are extensively used as precursors for urethanes and polyester resins.
